West Nile Virus
West Nile Virus is a dangerous virus in the Flaviviridae family. It mostly affects animals, especially birds, but has recently been affecting humans through infected mosquitoes. In 2007, 124 deaths caused by West Nile Virus were reported. Pesticides to get rid of mosquitoes are being created, but they are harmful to our enviornment.
Biotech Innovations
As part of the Global Challenge: Biotech Innovations, it is our goal to inform the public and discover the benefits of a "greener" pesticide that will still have affects on West Nile Virus.
